Floodpocalypse 2016

17 October

We were feeling like Noah a couple weeks ago as we watched the rains come down and the floods come up.

We were stuck in the basement for three hours as the wind rushed by at 70 mph, hail pounded the windows, and tornado sirens blared.

We were thankful for all those who came over to help the next day as the river continued to rise. Even though the sandbags didn't prevent the water from creeping in, it did keep debris out.

For comparison, this is what our backyard usually looks like:
We had a lot to be thankful in this storm, however: our electricity stayed on for all but a few hours, the water didn't reach inside our house, and our pool seems to have survived just fine. There are many in our town who were not so fortunate, and we hope that they will be able to recover soon from the mess this flood left behind.
