Tough Like Tessa
13 June
Poor Tessa had her first illness a couple weeks ago. Since her malformation involves her immune system, we weren't really sure how her body would handle sickness. It turns out that her little body has to work extra hard to fight an infection.
She developed a fever with no other symptoms, and a few days later that fever was close to 105 degrees. We headed up to the ER at Mayo Clinic and were admitted to the hospital. The next couple of days were filled with tests, IVs, scans, constant monitoring, and many pokes. Tessa was miserable, and cried the instant anyone entered the room and came near her. It was a very hard couple of days, and filled with uncertainty. The doctors never did end up finding the source of infection, but they let us go home with another course of oral antibiotics. We're so thankful for the many prayers that were sent up for this little girl. She needed them, we needed them, and we're ever so thankful for a heavenly Father who hears them.
Thankfully acetaminophen and ibuprofen would help her feel a little more comfortable and she would perk up from time to time.
Her malformation grew rapidly due to the infection. Thankfully most of it has come back down in size, with the exception of two portions on her back. She will be going back to Mayo for an ultrasound in July to check those portions and consider using sclerotherapy on them.
She had an ultrasound and a CT scan on her malformation to look for any signs of infection or abscesses. Thankfully everything looked fine.
As we were driving home, feeling exhausted and anxious, we saw an entire rainbow in the sky. It was massive- and so vivid. Such a beautiful reminder that God keeps His promises, and that He promises to never leave us or forsake us.

DeleteHard not to tear up reading this! Love that little girl, she has been blessed with the BEST parents in the world. Also, love the photo of her with her hand up, like what are we still doing here mom and dad?
