Last Days

13 June

Our last days of school were a little crazy.  Due to our nasty winter, we had to make up 14 snow days.  That put our last day of school much later than it was supposed to be, and we already had plane tickets to head to Boston.  Max decided to stay home with Ben, so he attended the last two days of school.  Grace had her last day on Tuesday, Claire had her last day on Wednesday, and we flew to Boston on Thursday.
Like I said, it was crazy.
Besides missing a million snow days, it was a great school year.  Everyone loved their teachers and friends, and they all did a lot of learning.  And I was 1,000% ready to have a break from rushed mornings and packing lunches.

Mrs. Landers is our favorite teacher.  I honestly can't imagine a kinder or more patient person for my kids to have their first year of school.  She pours herself into her students, and they learn so much from her!  Grace is not too thrilled about not having Mrs. Landers next year.
Grace won the "snickers" award, for always laughing at school.
I was not at all surprised by this.

Claire had Miss Steere for 3rd and 4th grades, and then she went back to teaching 3rd and Max had her.  So it will feel strange to not have her next year. She's probably thankful for a break from us.

Mr. Vanderloop was Claire's first male teacher, and she wasn't so sure how she felt about that at the start of the year.  She ended up really enjoying him as a teacher, however. He really won her over when he brought his puppy to school, and she thought his teasing remarks to her were pretty funny.

With us traveling to Boston, and now preparing to travel to NJ, it hasn't really sunk in that summer has started.  It also doesn't help that the weather is cool.  But I am BEYOND ready for more easy going schedules, and pretty soon we'll be in the laid back, slow moving summer days.
And my kids will start asking for snacks approximately 2,897 times a day.
