Claire has talked about having a party for her Bitty Baby (named Bitty...Claire is very original when it comes to naming her dolls and animals) for a veeeeerrrrry long time. Apparently Bitty's birthday is on the first day of fall. My little party-planner-in-the-making starting decorating the house with colorful pipe cleaner chains several weeks beforehand and was so excited when the day finally came. While she and Max were at school, I decorated the table for the occasion and we had a little party when they got home. Dusty Crophopper made an appearance as Max's special friend for the party. We enjoyed some cupcakes, sang Happy Birthday, opened homemade presents, and played some party games. Ahhhh, to have the imagination of a child again.
Last weekend was absolutely beautiful: sunny, 80's, and no wind. We took full advantage of the day by enjoying one last swim in the pool and then had a bonfire in the evening. It was the perfect way to officially say bye to the warmth of summer and hello to the chilliness of fall.
{P.S.- Something is wrong with the trusty old Canon, hence the sad quality of the following pictures. And I am now without a camera as it is off getting repaired. Insert crying emoji here.}
It feels like the school year has officially begun this week. Claire went to school for 5 days and Max only went for 1 before we flew out to Boston for Kelly's wedding. Now we're back, and that realization has finally set in.
Boo.
The kids like school, but they also miss being home. And I miss having them home. Although I will admit that I am somewhat looking forward to cleaning my house-as that definitely did NOT happen this summer. So here's to another year of learning, exploring, and growing!
