A part of me was sad, because it means the end of no schedules, long days spent outside, late bedtimes, and lazy mornings.
But there was also a part of me that was ready for the big kids to head back to school because I seriously needed to get my house back in order. With four kids hanging around all day, making messes all over the place, and constantly needing snacks/help/drinks/meals/etc. the house was in a very neglected and desperate state.
Also, child #3 was ready to have all the toys to herself again.🙄
So, the return of school was definitely bittersweet.
Claire and Max weren't exactly ready for school to start this year. But thankfully they both had a really great first day, met up with all their buddies (and each other) at recess, and are excited to go now.
The school had conferences a few days before the first day. We saw their classrooms, talked with their teachers, found their lockers, and unloaded their supplies. This is such a great way to help ease those first day jitters, without the chaos of an open house back to school night.
A look at past first days. Those Pre-K pictures though...😍
